Pilates is a physical fitness known as “Contrology” developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. The benefits of Pilates range from increased flexibility, muscle strength, endurance, developing a strong core, improving coordination and balance. It emphasizes spinal & pelvic alignment and improves posture! Pilates systems allows different exercises to be modified and performed in a wide range of levels from beginner to advanced movements.
One of the best things about the reformer is its versatility. It is a full body workout to create lean and toned muscles safely and effectively. Exercises can be done laying down, sitting, standing and more based off of your abilities. Most Pilates reformer exercises have to do with pushing or pulling the carriage (the mat part of the reformer) or holding the carriage steady during an exercise as it is pulled on by the springs. The springs create resistance with choices of differing levels of difficulty as the carriage is pushed or pulled. Body weight and resistance of the springs are what make the carriage more or less difficult to move. Reformer parts are adjustable for differing body sizes and different levels of skill.
All fitness levels are welcome! We teach introductory classes, beginner, intermediate and advanced. We even offer classes that focus on cardio! Take a look at our class description page for a more detailed overview.
Start with a Private lesson. We will show you the machine, explain how it works and teach you how to correctly use the reformer so that you feel more than comfortable going into a group class! From there you will go into our Pilates Reformer Foundation class which is designed for members who are brand new just like you! If you want a class that moves a bit slower, try out Strength & Stretch class. It moves at a slower pace and incorporates more stretching. Comfortable clothing that you would normally workout in. You will need workout shoes for circuit training classes and grip socks for all other classes. If you do not own any grip socks don’t worry, we have them for sale at the studio and some for you to borrow for your first class. Grip socks are simply normal socks with grips on the bottom so that you can grip the machine better and keep the machines clean for other members.

Classes are to be cancelled before 9PM the night before any morning classes and more than 2 hours before any afternoon or evening classes. This is meant to allow sufficient time for individuals on the wait list to receive notice of their addition into class and to allow enough time for late sign ups to check class openings. If a class is cancelled within the late cancellation period, package members or single class goers will lose that session and monthly members will be charged $10. If a class is not attended and is not cancelled, package holders and single class goers will lose that session and monthly members will be charged a $15 fee. Any class that is cancelled before the late cancellation periods will have their session automatically returned to their account to be used for a future class.
Clients will receive an email alerting them to their admission into class when getting off of the waitlist. Clients will not be automatically admitted off of the waitlist within 2 hours of a class, however, can sign up for the class manually within those 2 hours if a space is available. Those on the waitlist for morning classes that are not admitted by 9PM the night before may be automatically admitted up until 2 hours prior to the class, but will not be penalized if unable to attend.
Classes with 1 individual signed up will be cancelled and the client will be welcome to attend another class. Classes with 2 clients may be contacted about switching to a class with more attendance. If the clients are not able to switch, the class will remain on the schedule as usual.
